Kecak Fire Dance at Uluwatu Temple
Experience Bali’s legendary Kecak chant and flaming Ramayana story as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
ABOUT THE SHOW
A Sacred Dance at the Edge of the Sea
Kecak is one of Bali’s most iconic performances. There is no gamelan orchestra: dozens of men chant “cak-cak-cak” in rhythm, telling the Ramayana epic of Prince Rama, Sita and the white monkey Hanuman.
At Uluwatu Temple the open-air stage sits on a limestone cliff above the ocean. As the sun melts into the horizon, the show builds to its finale, Hanuman’s fire dance. Two sessions every evening, performed by two local dance troupes (seka).
